Its good reading about all your journys so far.I have been on this life changing way of eating now for 2 years,it is not a diet how can it be when I still eat REAL cheese REAL milk REAL butter, whatever I want as long as it does not have FRUCTOSE in it.it is as simple as that.I dont go around preaching sweet poison as everyone can see the results for themseves, however if people are genuine about how I lost 18kls  without exersise I will tell with passion about my journey.I did change the way I ate,I only have plain yogurt now instead of sweet.I eat avocardose most days now but I just cound not stand them a little while back, coffee with no dextrose in fact I dont use dextrose at all anymore.Wheat bix with only milk.I lost my weight in about 4 to 5 months and have been about 75kls without trying.Believe me you just dont eat as much as you would have.My 10 year old niece eats more than me.I still like to have a beer and still no beer gut.People just have to eat REAL food throw out soft drink and juice, drink water or milk and if you dont like plain milk use coco with a teaspoon of dextrose.good luck I rambled on a bit to long sorry.

Hi Geoff and welcome.  Sounds like you started about the same weight as me, or even less.  I was 100 kg and dropped to 90 within a month.  I am in the US on a business trip right now, which means lots of restaurant meals.  I am legendary in my circle for my dessert consumption, so they are getting used to the new me, and I am navigating menus as best I can, but I'm sure I'll gain in the three weeks I am here, but I'll do my best, and lose what I still gain, when I get home.  I'm inspired that you got down to 75kg, I have assumed my weight loss will continue, but slow down after this initial burst, but we will see.

Hi geoff - i am relatively new to the scene - been sugar free for about 6 weeks.  I have lost a couple of kgs, however, that is not my primary goal - as much as i needed it!!  i will say that now Winter is upon us and everyone is coughing and sick - this is the first year i havent caught the bug.  i am attibuting this to the large increase in natural food eg my vege intake has doubled- i no longer eat processed food and of course no sugar.  i generally feel much healthier, not as lethagic and have much more energy.  When people have noticed the weight loss and asked my which diet i was on, i gave a basic explanation but 9 out of 10 people are not really interested even telling me that it is natural to eat sugar as it grows.  Anyway - this is a lifestyle change for me not a diet.  i want to live a longer and HEALTHY life - not full of statins etc.  Still getting over the cravings though.  Off to have a big drink of water!!   All the best

Are they the sort of people who would say yes if you asked if they'd take heroin ( plant based ) or at least smoke dope ? Tobacco is natural.  So is rubber.  So are a lot of poisons.

I've found that people love to lecture on 'moderation' and not being 'extreme'.  It's fine, I nod and smile.  They don't seem to get that sugar is both addictive and bad for you.  And they sure don't get that I don't WANT it anymore, or that I'm not exercising any force of will.  I eat as much as I want, and a lot more 'bad' foods than I used to, except for sugar.  And the weight is falling off me, and I feel great.

what i dont get through all of this - is the medical fraternity.  my husband takes statins and has for a long time.  when he asked his GP the reply was "well I am on them" and that was it.  Do doctors understand the impact that this is having on peoples health or are they only interested in kickbacks.

They don't like having their cage rattled. Imagine if you spent 8 years getting to be a GP and after pracicing for "X" years,  some idiot came along and told you that everything you had learned about weight control and heart health was rubbish? Wouldn't you feel like defending your position?  You may recall the biblical saying "There are none so deaf as those who will not hear".  Same story here.

This is a real dilemma for me -  I'm an Adult-Asperger's-Syndrome person and one of our characteristics is "hobby horses". We tend to bore people silly with our specialty - and more so when it's something they don't really want to hear. But I have a passion to help people understand what they're doing to themselves and how, so simply, they can improve and extend their lives.  I'm planning on setting up a web site and forum to see how I can spread the word.

The simple fact is, if you're a doctor you have to trust other opinions, and if you don't go with the majority, your insurance probably becomes void if you get sued.
