I know this question has probably been asked a thousand times already.

It says in the Sweet Poison book that you can have 10 grams of fructose a day which equates to 2 pieces of fruit.

Someone also told me that when buying packaged food you must have less that 5 grams per 100 grams on the label. Is this equation correct as I couldn't find it in the Sweet Poison Book. On page 52 it says you can have 10 grams a day which equates too 2 pieces of fruit.  On page 56 it explains that half the sugar content is the fructose content.

If you eat 2 pieces of fruit in a day does that mean you cannot have any other sugar what so ever in that day ?

Please help as I am very confused.

What David says is only a guide.  But yes, you are to try and limit your intake to 10g fructose per day which equates to 2 pieces of fruit.  On packaged foods it can be quite tricky because any sugar found in dairy products will be lactose which is fine.  However sugar should be halved and is 50% fructose.  when I first started I found it quite hard to reach that 10g limit each day, steer clear of packaged foods, eat fresh and you'll be fine.

I agree. And reading Sweet Poison Quit Plan  is worth doing too.  As to reading labels, just stick to under 3% "sugars" and you should be OK.  Yoghurt is OK to 5% because that's lactose (milk sugar) which is converted to glucose when digested. But watch out for the flavoured yoghurts. Fruit juice ("liquid fat")  should be avoided, and "low-fat" foods often have the flavour enhanced with salt and sugar, so need to be checked carefully.. Avoiding processed foods as far as possible is the easy way to go.

    Thanks for the feed back.

I have got a copy of the Sweet Poison Quit Plan. I actually bought that book in prefence to the Sweet Poison book as I thought it would conquer both books. I hope I am not missing out on any vital information in the Sweet Poison book.

I am trying not to eat packaged food as much as possible.
