    Hi All,

My sister-in-law is keen to be sugar free but drink of choice is bourbon and cola - any suggestions how to get around the mixer problem?
I understand that having diet cola avoids the sugar but still allows the body to maintain its craving for sweetness which is what we want to cut out.
Has anyone found a non sugar or sweetener option?

only other thing would be soda water or mineral water... not sure how that would taste with bourbon.

Try bourbon and ginger ale.  Just use the "diet" versions of the mixers. The no-no sweeteners will take longer to kill you than the sugary ones :-)

    Hi Gary,

I don't think diet drinks are a bad thing at the start as David himself said he drank loads of it while he went through withdrawals (I think it was Pepsi-Max). I loved pre mixed gin and tonic but now I just have gin and diet tonic with a slice of lemon when I decide I want a drink. I personally try to aviod diet drinks in general but if I want something sweet at work I find a diet coke does the job nicely and using it as a mixer on the odd occasion for a drink wouldn't be the end of the world I'd think :)

    Sam :)
