The product Natvia is currently being advertised in Oz as a sugar replacement. Is it suitable to use? Ruth &Eric

There's not a lot of independent reviewing in Wikipedia but here's one:
http://www.foodwatch.com.au/iindex.php?option=com_zoo&task=item&item_id=864&category_id=230&Itemid=154
It's a variety of Stevia, which is on David's "Your Call" list [ SPQP page 170]. Wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevia
and
In the digestive tract rebaudiosides are metabolised into stevioside. Then stevioside is broken down into glucose and steviol. The glucose released in this process is used by bacteria in the colon and not absorbed into the blood stream.
[47]
Steviol cannot be further digested and is passed from the digestive system in urine or feces.
I've been using Splenda in my coffee but recently switched to Natvia. I like it.

Thank you for the feedback, will now try in chocolate brownies as dextrose texture changes with maturity over a couple of days. Ruth & Eric

Natvia is a lot sweeter than sugar, and as such, is not a suitable replacement because if you use the same volume, it's a lot sweeter.

I use Natvia and find I'am using less and less because it is so sweet.
