First question relates to Sushi, can you still eat it while on the quit plan and secondly can anyone give me the names of some yoghurts I can eat apart from the yoplait forme and boring old plain yoghurt?
thankyou
Hello Narelle and welcome
the problem with Sushi is the rice, it's made by adding rice vinegar and, unfortunately, sugar. Quite a lot of sugar. I used to find that when I ate Sushi, before dropping the sugar from my diet, that when I ate it, I craved more and more and then after eating it, ate chocolate and biscuits too. I didn't know, of course, that it was the sugar in the sushi rice creating the craving until I read the book.
So I don't eat it at all now, due to the sugar content of the rice.
I still eat Sashimi, of course, I love the raw fish.
I eat Jalna wholemilk bio dynamic yoghurt which I find lovely and creamy and not too sour. But any plain or natural yoghurt will do as long as there is no added sugar, honey or fruit juice. (or inulin which is another form of fructose disguised as fiber.) You can add berries to the plain yoghurt and, if you are past the recovery period from sugar addiction, you can add glucose to the yoghurt to sweeten it.
But remember, glucose, while not addictive is still as high in calories as sugar and can lead to weight gain.
For myself, I have gradually become a savoury eater and have a glucose sweetened desert rarely as a special treat, usually when we have visitors.
But that is my story, others will tell you different.
Good luck in your journey, you won't regret it.
cheers
Freda
