    Hi Everyone,

I’ve just completed my first month of sugar detox; however I have not lost any weight.

I have noticed a significant decrease in my sugar cravings to the point where I barely notice having them. I have also noticed a very distinct feeling of being full when I have had enough to eat and that my portion sizes are decreasing.

I am currently 100kg and given my height and build I should be around 75kg to 80kg (looking to loose 20kg to 25kg).

A typical day in my new eating habits is as follows:

    • -          Full cream large coffee (I used to have 2 sugars, now I have none).
    • -          A hand full of pistachios around 11am.
    • -          Lunches consist of 2 toasted ham, cheese and tomato sandwiches.
    • -           A hand full of pistachios around 3pm.
    • -          Dinners consist of steamed vegies (carrot/broccoli), mashed potatoes and chicken (or sometimes beef/lamb).
    • -          Weekends are similar, however I have bacon and eggs for breakfast and usually a BBQ dinner.
    • -          I have substituted all drinks with water/coffee/sparkling water.
    • -          I have cut sweets/deserts/ice cream/etc. out of my diet
    • -          I have cut fruit almost completely out of my diet.
    • -          I don’t have any sauces/condiments of my food any longer.
    • -          I no longer have any fast food.

I have also taken up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu twice a week, which is approx. 2 hours a week hard exercise.

I know I am early in my new lifestyle; however I would have expected to see a change in my weight after a month of such a drastic change.

Any ideas why I have not seen a change in my weight?

There's an old saying to the effect that men who don't drink, don't smoke and don't consort with wild women don't actually live longer . . .it just seems longer :-)

You certainly are pushing all the right buttons. Your sweet tooth has gone and your appetite-control system is working as it should. But there are no hard-&-fast rules about this process. And no ideal timeline - everyone is different. Being anxious about lack of progress may also make it seem worse.

If you still aren't losing weight after say 3 months you might try emailing David directly, from the SP web site.  When "unexpected weight gain" was a subject on this forum he suggested going low-carb
for a while. Maybe that would help you.

Meantime, you are doing very well, even if you are not experiencing weight loss. So do persevere. BTW you should also be aiming for a waist measurement of 94 cm max (80 for women) to avoid a build-up of fat around the vital organs.

John's right. It takes different time for different people. I lost a couple of kilos quite quickly then plateaued for a couple of months then steadily lost 500gms a week until I lost 10kgs which in total took 6 months.
    Now I have plateaued again.

If you look back through this forum you will find lots on comments about weight loss.

    Keep at it.

    Hi there

Also remember that excersice can put on muscle but that is usually body building excercises.  And muscle can be seen as weight gain on the scales.

try black coffee instead for two weeks instaed of white.

    Hi,
Your diet sounds oh so boring, I myself would love to see a meal plan to mix up the meals we are eating. Sometimes it's hard to decide what to have for lunch. I would love the recipes section to give us all different ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a few snack ideas thrown in. Then also show lower carb versions, for those weeks when you realize you are eating more carbs than you should. (like I seem to be doing at the moment). I think going protein and vegies or salad for a couple of weeks wouldn't hurt. Use lots of herbs and spices. I found these recipe creations pouches from McCormick in the herb and spice isle of the supermarket. I made the 'Lemon Pepper Chilli Chicken' recipe on the pack and it was delicious. (Served it with a tossed salad). It was simple and no carbs. Good luck with everything, as they say 'It wont happen overnight but it will happen'.

I agree with Jennifer, it would be great to get some advice on an eating plan that included breakfast lunch and dinner.  While I am avoiding sugar I don't really need recipes for sweet food but some more help with the healthier choices would be useful.
