    Everyone,

     I’m a good month into my sugar-free life; I work in an office and was snacking on pistachios, but found (for nuts) they were relatively high in sugar, so I’m now trialing peanuts. However, I’m starting to feel a bit over the high fat levels of nuts every day; I’m starting to feel uncomfortable in the guts after I have a handful.

    What options do I have for sugar-free snacks in the office that are also very low in fat?

    Thanks.

    Cruskits are very good, and there is a number of savoury biscuits which are low both in sugar and fats.
    Small piece of fruit.
    Arnott's "Lattice" biscuits at 11% are about the lowest sugar sweet biscuit available.

    Best of all . . stop snacking at the office!  When you feel the urge, identify the feeling you have, bring it into awareness, and "just for now" decide to let it go.

    Thanks John,

    I'm not sure if cutting the snacking out is the best option. Perhaps using the term snacking is not the best way to put it.

    I definitely identify the urge as actual hunger and not boredom/habit, if I decide to just let it go, the feeling of hunger persists until lunch-time or dinner.

    I ‘snack’ twice a day;

     Once between breakfast and lunch (breakfast is usually just a coffee because I don’t have time in the morning, nor do I feel the urge for breakfast). And;

     Once again between lunch and dinner (lunch being about 12:30 and dinner about 7:30, so the snack happens around 3pm).

    Currently when I snack it consists of one small handful (70g to 100g max) of nuts.

    If I change my diet to something where I am feeling hungry for 5 or 6 hours a day, I won’t stick with it; I’d prefer to change my diet to reduce the amount of harmful foods I eat (substituting them for healthier food) and allowing my appetite control system to balance itself out. In the past month I have noticed my portions decrease significantly and I may get to the point where I no longer eat between meals however I am going to listen to my body for that scenario and not fight it.

    I will go out and get some savory Cruskits to substitute for nuts, thanks for that.

    I will avoid the sweet biscuits, I have luckily lost my sweet tooth quite quickly.

    Cheers

    I think 70g to 100g is possibly being a little too generous. Considering pistachios are mostly shell I’d maybe get 50g of actual edible nuts.
