I am managing well on the sugar free diet. However, I am wondering if there is an alternative to honey, whcih is sometimes an ingredient in a dessert or drink. I was not wnating to use dextrose.

Try rice malt syrup from Coles. The sugars in rice syrup are predominantly maltose (45%), and glucose (3%), and these are kosher. See : substitute.http://recipes.pureharvest.com.au/rice-syrup/

It's not as sweet as runny honey but it's a pretty good substitute. And cheap enough.
