Could someone tell me how much fructose there would be in a mango. Could I safely eat two a day? We have hundreds of beautiful ones on our trees right now.

see the link below for detailed analysis.  It looks like 24g of sugar per 165g which is quite high.  I would not recommend eating 2 per day probably limit to maximum of 1.

Make it easy - just check the fructose content graphs in Davids book Sweet Poison Quit Plan.
Limit yourself to 10g of fructose per day but don't forget the sources other than fruit.

Thanks Gary for that link. Wow I think one at the most will be enough!! John, I have the Sweet Poison Quit Plan book but mangoes are not on the fruit graph. I love those graphs - makes it so easy to compare foods. Thanks though for your reply!

per 100g mangos have 6.55g of fructose http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/consumerinformation/nuttab2010/nuttab2010onlinesearchabledatabase/onlineversion.cfm?&action=getFood&foodID=06D10404

I love mangoes myself and treat myself to a mango a week when they are in season and on special.  Mangoes like other good fruits can actually be frozen.  I buy berries when they are on special and if I don't use them all up I freeze them.  They go great with yoghurt.  I've got 2 big mangos someone bought in from home, going to test out some mango icecream this weekend!

I found a mango ice cream recipe that uses mangoes, sugar and sour light cream so though I would substitute Dextrose for the sugar and see how I go. Makes me shudder now to think that there is a cup of sugar in the recipe as well as three mangoes so one serving would have to be very tiny!! Thanks Janelle for the link. I am dehydrating mangoes so they will be available when out of season for my family.
