I like sugar free chewing gum, but after reading Sweet Poison am terrified to put another piece in my mouth.  Is there any type of chewing gum that is safe or is there an alternative to chewing gum?  Also I drink warm milk with Nestle cocoa powder is this alright?

The warm milk will be ok, but I think the Nestle cocoa powder will have sugar in it, just check the lable. I use the home brand woolworths or coles cocoa powder, it has no sugar.

'Sweet Life' make a chewing gum using Xylitol as the only sweetener. I have bought some to see what it's like. I'm not a regular gum user so I can't really compare but the flavour dissapears fairly quickly after chewing a while. Having said that, the flavours are pleasant enough while they last - spearmint, peppermint and a fruity one that I find sort of like a tropical flavour as opposed to the commercial 'juicy fruit' which I use to like. They are available online and seem to ship promptly - though mine arrived while I was away and it was poorly packed - the end of the postpack was no longer sealed when a neighbour collected it for me. They also sell bulk xylitol for those wanting to cook with or use it for drinks etc. I don't completely recall the prices but I remember working it out at the time compared to the 500gm I saw at the local Health food store. 1kg of it online was cheaper than the 500gm in the shop - even with shipping - if you buy enough at once. Still expensive but a better way to buy if you want to use it.
