ATP conversion to fatty acid

    Hi,
I have a question on a point that I feel is central to "Sweet Poison". In chapter 6 amongst the detailed biochem discussion the last line of page 74 says that the excess ATP is converted to fatty acid in the liver. It is a while since I studied biochem but I don't remember any pathway that converts ATP to fatty acid.

Can anyone point me to a reference which describes this pathway? Or can anyone (David?) tell me the path taken in this anabolism?

Or should it be that the ATP assists in the production of fatty acid and if so what are the constituents.

I am not questioning that excess fructose leads to excess fatty acid I am interested in the exact path.

    Thanks,
    Gerard

There is an excellent lecture on YouTube which goes into the biochemistry in detail:

It is long but well worth the time to view, so grab a coffee (no sugar) and enjoy!

    Thanks Jennifer.

Sounds like it could be exactly what I am looking for.

PS Jennifer, I haven't put sugar in my coffee since 1986 and I think it has made a huge difference - it has to be good coffee though!!

The video was absolutely brilliant. I feel as though someone just revealed the secrets of the universe to me.
