I am very puzzled, I can't drink milk because I have a mucus problem with it.

I have been buying an oat drink, ingredients: Water, oats, sunflower oil, salt.
On the nutritional guide list on the carton, it says that it contains 2.9 gms of sugar per 100 gms.

But oats on the cereal list, in David's book have 0% sugar.

So my question is..........Where on earth does the sugar content on the carton nutritional guide come from. Does sunflower oil have sugar in it and if so, is it fructose?

Freda ... the sugar content of oats can vary a bit (although that does sound high) ... comparing various brands of Oats (that have Oats as the only ingredient) gets you sugar from 0-2.5% .... so I suspect that's where its coming from - but to be sure perhaps email the manufacturer and ask?

    Cheers

    David.

PS There are no sugars in oils.

Thanks for that David. I will try emailing the manufacturer.
Meanwhile............are there any sugar free alternatives to milk that you know of? I can't find any in Franklins, Coles or Woolworths or my local health food shops. So frustrating!!!
    cheers

Hi Freda, I too have a problem with milk and have discovered  PureHarvest Organic Nature's Own Malt free soy milk. Sugar content 0.7 per 100ml, which I drink in moderation. I have been sugar free for almost 7 months now and feel fantastic. I have had a couple of set backs ( Xmas and holidays)but quickly realised why I'm off sugar, its just not worth it any more I love feeling slimmer and so clear headed. I have a new zest for life. regards Deborah

    That's wonderful Deborah.
I am actually trying goat's milk. It doesn't seem to create the mucus problem like cow's milk does.
I'm not real keen on Soy milk.
Wonderful that you are feeling so great since coming off sugar, I have only been sugar free for about three months but also feel great and have a good feeling about being slimmer too.
And you are so right about the clear headedness, thanks to David ............eh?
