    Hi David.

Are you aware that Nutrition Australia has written a fact sheet in response to your book (published April 2010)? They state that your book is based on 'gross misinterpretations of key aspects of the scientific literature, and entirely ignores others'. The fact sheet also states that 'Sweet Poison' is replete with dubious claims'.
David, have you defended your claims at any stage? As someone who has benefitted from choosing to eliminate fructose from my life, I found the fact sheet confusing and saddening.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hi Christine
I have looked in the Nutrition Australia web site and can't find this fact sheet. What is its title, can you give me a link please?
I am simply curious to see how these people are protecting the sugar industry.
    cheers
    Freda

Go to the Nutrition Australia website and type 'fructose' into the search box. The fact sheet does not provide any details to support the claim that the book has 'gross misinterpretations' etc.

fyi ... This document was prepared by Chris Forbes-Ewan, a nutritionist from Tasmania.  I wrote a blog piece about him and his claims here: http://www.raisin-hell.com/2010/01/attack-of-chocolatier.html

He then wrote a piece (saying basically the same thing again) in the Skeptics Magazine ... and this was my reply: http://sweetpoison.com.au/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Skeptic_SweetResponse.pdf

Then he wrote another piece (and here it is, together with my reply and some comments from some other folks): http://sweetpoison.com.au/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/SkepMag_Forum_Sep10-1.pdf

    Cheers

    David.

Hi David, I've just spent an entertaining couple of hours reading all the posts in the various blogs linked to this thread.  I admire the fact tht you didn't let Chris drag you into his little tirade,  As I said in my post a the end of the Raisin Hell blog, "who cares".  The result of the fructose free regime speak for themselves. If part of the reason these so called "experts" criticise your book, is because there is not enough "hard" evidence, then it would be an interesting exercise to ask your supporters to offer anecdotal evidence by way of actual results.  Mine speak for themselves.  Immediate weight loss, (and I'm eating foods I love and had previously denied myself), and my blood work shows definte improvement across the board.  I don't know if it would help your case or not, but I'm sure there are many people who are subscribers to this blog who have had similar results.

I say Keep up the great work, and detractors be damned.  If There is one important fact that stands out about the fructose free way of life is, it can't do any harm.  Sure some of the people who criticise the book may have a point about "leaps of faith" and "not enough evidence".  However I can't see anybody who says that cutting out Fructose will do any harm.  In fact there can only be positive results.  Can anybody cite any evidence that reducing frutose your diet will harm you?  None I've seen.  Go David!!!
