Which breakfast cereal is this Philip, perhaps I can have a look at the packet at my local supermarket and it will be easier to see than trying to interpret your figures

    Hi Phillip,

Regardless of the other ingredients, it has fructose in it which means it's a no go. 15grams of sugars is a lot of sugar too.

Most of that suger is lactose from the skim milk that I put on my steel cut oats. I add a few strawberries (6 medium) for flavour because the bloody blueberries are out of season and are to expensive.

The strawberries come in with 2 grams of fibre and 1.7 grams of fructose so I guess that is acceptable. Anywway am going well. Have lost 21 kilos since February 6. Thats for taking the time to reply.

    Hi Phillip
If you look at David's books, he puts a huge thumbs down on anything "light" or "skim" and suggests we have full cream products.
Anyway, congrats on losing 21 kilos since February.
Strawberries are good because the fibre in them counteracts the fructose and steel cut oats are excellent.

So when you came up with those figures, you added the lactose sugar amount to the first entry (ie sugars 15.9g) but didn't add it to the lactose section??

I just copies the figures from nutritiondata.com.

Good point re skim milk. I hate the stuff. Full cream from now on. Thanks.

I dunno, Phillip, I've been on the skim for so many years, I find whole milk make sme feel nauseous, especially if it's cold milk, like drinking a glass of milk, or on cereal, although mostly I warm my cereal milk, my DB Kev always said he doesn't like skim either, until we had a visit from his Bro from Brissie recently & we had to get whole milk for him, (he's skinny!)  Kev had to finish it all up, & then told me he had put on weight, he's convinced it was the milk!!  I stopped myself from laughing & let him go on  believing, nasty Sylv......slap on the wrist!! teehee....Well, it was only about 400mls!! haha, forgot to take into account all the biscuits, doughnuts etc they ate over the week-end!! or the beer & wine they drank!!

It's all very confusing, don't you think, so much research to do, I'm constantly researching something to do with food. so I make myself do research on Spiritual matters, that is so absorbing, I forget all about food. Note to self, must meditate more....Don't forget, people, whatever you focus your mind on, well, this will be all you can think about, so do everything you can to deflect your mind onto something else other than food....and to motivate yourself, put a photo on the fridge of yourself when you were slim & healthy, & say out loud whenever you see it, That's me in 6 (or however many you have set yourself as your goal) months....that's called being positive, if you need motivation, join the SparkPeople website, just to read some other people's stories, and most of them aren't aware of fructose, but are doing it the hard way....

Some recent research I came across for those of you having trouble moving that belly fat, walking is the easy key. It tightens up the skin around the tops of legs & tummy too, and I think they're right. When I started on this journey, I was walking, and was so happy, as I'd noticed I was losing belly fat, then I stopped walking, just before Xmas 2010, &, I swear, even tho' I've now lost 9.6 kilos, I've put on more belly fat!!  eeek!! I promise, I'll be walking tomorrow!!!
