The following blurb appears to contradict everything in 'Sweet Poison'. Is this false advertising? Would anyone like to comment?

Fruisana is 100% fruit sugar (fructose), which is found naturally in most fruits and honey. It provides a perfect low glycaemic alternative to cane sugar and a stable source of energy without causing the energy high’s and low’s normally experienced from sugar consumption. Almost twice as sweet as sugar so you use less, Fruisana also enhances the flavours of other ingredients in particular fruit and chocolate, which makes it ideal for cooking with.

    FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS

    1. What is Fruisana?
Fruisana Fruit Sugar is pure crystalline Fructose, a natural "real" sugar, not an artificial sweetener. It looks, feels and tastes just like ordinary sugar (Sucrose).

    2. Why is it called Fruit Sugar?
Fruit Sugar is so-named because it occurs naturally in fruits and in honey - nearly 50% of the "dry weight" of apples, pears & grapes is Fructose.

    3. How is Fruisana made?
Commercial Fruit Sugar is prepared industrially from corn syrup or from ordinary beet- or cane sugar. Fruisana Fruit Sugar is made from sugar beet in Finland by converting beet-sugar into glucose and fructose.

    4. What is the connection between Fructose and High-Fructose Corn Syrup?
Very little. Fruisana is pure crystalline Fructose whereas High-Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is a low-cost industrial sweetening ingredient used primarily in the USA for sweetening drinks and desserts. HFCS has none of the benefits of Fructose and all of the disadvantages of ordinary sugar (Sucrose) and Glucose.

    5. What does Fruisana taste like? Is there an aftertaste?
Fruisana is almost twice as sweet as ordinary sugar, but has no aftertaste. It enhances rather than masks the natural flavours of foods. It thus brings out the natural flavours of fresh fruits - particularly soft fruits like strawberries - and also chocolate, coffee and caramel. Many top chefs use Fruisana for this reason.

    6. How else is Fruisana different to ordinary sugar?
Ordinary sugar (sucrose) and glucose can both cause an "energy rush", brought about by a surge of blood sugar levels. Fruit Sugar has a low Glycaemic Index (G.I.) and does not have this effect, thus maintaining steady blood-sugar levels and avoiding the subsequent energy "lows" and hunger pangs caused by foods containing ordinary sugar or glucose.

    7. Is Fruisana suitable for Diabetics?
Fruit Sugar has the lowest Glycaemic Index (19) of all the common sugars and has very little effect on blood sugar or blood-insulin levels. It can therefore be used (sparingly) by diabetics as an alternative to artificial sweeteners. Ordinary sugar has a Glycaemic Index of 65, and honey is 55.

    8. Can Fruisana help me with my Diet?
Fruit sugar has the same calorific value as ordinary sugar but is around 70% sweeter. Dieters on a calorie-controlled diet can use Fruit Sugar as a natural alternative to ordinary sugar, simply by using around a third less. Apart from avoiding the "hunger pangs" associated with the after-effects of eating ordinary sugar, Fruit Sugar has a "satiating" effect - it enhances a feeling of being full and may thus act as an appetite depressant.

    9. How do you use Fruisana?
You use Fruisana just like ordinary sugar, but use about one-third less. It can be used in hot and cold drinks, for sprinkling on cereals and fruit, on cakes and pancakes, just like ordinary sugar.

    10. Can you use Fruisana in home-baking?
Fruit Sugar can be used in cooking, preserves and baking just like ordinary sugar, though you should use less and adjust the temperature, since it browns more readily

    11. How should Fruisana be stored?
All Fruit Sugar is highly hydroscopic, ie, it absorbs water vapour from the air. The pack is fully foil-lined for protection, but once opened, it is best to store Fruisana in an air-tight container if not required for immediate use.

It is all true, but terrifying as Freda says.  A pity they don't point out the dangers of fructose, but then why would they, they would have NIL sales.
