How Much Sugar?

David to answer pls- low fat dairy

    Hi David-

    I have read your books and have a question regarding low-fat dairy. You discuss not going low fat as they add sugars etc often. Got that.

    I am getting 'views' saying low fat milk isnt okay 'dont know what they do to make it low fat' . I still get low fat milks etc, read the ingredients etc and make sure there's stillno sugars etc(except lactose). If the sugar levels are okay, and not 'bad' sweeteners etc from your listings, they are only less calories? I understand about Lactose.

    I was slowly gaining weight sugarfree (been 7 weeks now) but have reduced carbs and gone to lowfat when they are okay. If sugar levels are higher in anyway I go for full fat :) though.

    So- is full fat dairy always a requirement- even, say, plain milk? Do they 'do' something bad to it whilst removing the fat?

    Thankx, but no, it doesnt. I am not trying low fat diet, just dairy when other ingredients aren't altered. Understand how we eat more refined carbs etc, but I'm not in this programme.

    Jane ... the low fat dairy thing is related to the effect low fat foods have on our blood lipids and not on the sugar content (because it is all lactose anyway - which is fine).  I've outlined the research on that point in this blog post: http://www.raisin-hell.com/2010/08/why-is-heart-foundation-in-denial-over.html
