    Hi all,

I have been a juiceaholic for the past 3-5 years consuming at least a couple of litres per day of Black Label Grapefruit Juice, Mandarin Juice, Apple Juice, Ice Tea, Ginger Beer .... what ever I can get my hands on.

My family is vegetarian and we eat a very healthy and varied vego diet but I have put on almost 60Kg in the past 3 -5 years.

I have ordered but have not yet received my books so the answer to my question may be contained there.

Since viewing "Sugar: The Bitter Truth" I've been avoiding Sugar and I've lost a few Kgs, however I've been turning to fruit as a replacement for my Juice. Lately I've been eating about 6 Mandarins, an apple, some water melon and a pear each day. Because of the Fibre is that ok or because of the Fructose is this bad?

I understand that the problem is Fructose and there is plenty of that in Fruit but I also thought that because a piece of fruit contains the Fibre it's ok? Is this correct?

What is the rule for fruit consumption?

I've read the Sugar Guides and I see that Pear and Kiwi Fruit are the better choices but does that mean I can have 6 pears per day? I guess not. What do others do?

    Thanks

    Jeff

    Hello Jeff
welcome to the forum and good luck with your fructose free journey.

David's books are full of helpful info on this journey, but one important thing is to cut down your fruit consumption, at the most, to two pieces of fruit per day.

And yes, kiwi fruit and pears seem to have a lot of fiber to combat the fructose. Raspberries and strawberries are good too. You can obviously eat more than two raspberries or strawberries, but don't go overboard.

Once you become fully fructose free, you will find no difficulty in preventing yourself from eating too much. As fructose is Highly addictive, it will take time for the withdrawal symptoms to settle down. And you were certainly consuming an enormous amount of it in your fruit juices. And one of the problems with eating it is that it makes you overeat in other areas too. After a few weeks of fructose free, your natural appetite control will kick back in.

Keep on with the fructose free journey and also you will get lots of help from this forum and the Free Sweet poison forum.
    cheers
    Freda
