i would welcome comments on an article in the latest Nature and Health Magazines October-November 2011 issue headed " I cured my breast cancer with natural remedies".
The journalist talks to naturopath and author of " Shattering the Cancer Myth" Katrina Ellis.
Under the 10 top tips by Katrina No. 3 To Eat Well she states " Avoid sugar in all forms:cancer cells have 15 to 30 times more glucose receptors than normal cells, and they greedily gobble sugar to grow " !
Is this true ?
or
does she mean fructose ?
Is this scientifically proven?
Isn"t glucose our fuel etc !!
Thankyou
Hello Craig
I found an article on Cancer and sugars on this website:http://www.canceractive.com/cancer-active-page-link.aspx?n=235
And here are two quotes from that article
"There is evidence that sugars like glucose feed cancer cells more efficiently than starches. More with breast cancer survive for longer when kept on low blood sugar diets."
"Worse when cancer patients are given PET scans, we actually inject them with radioactively labeled glucose. The cancer cells probably cheer!"
I don't know how much of this article is based on actual scientifically researched fact, perhaps you need to Google more in this yourself to find more facts. But, I must say, it is a worry.
