I've been sticking to a generally rule of no more than 6gms of sugar per 100gms. I checked my jar of peanut butter and was devastated to see that I must cross it off my shopping list and my menu. Does anyone eat peanut butter?? Is there a tasty substitute brand with less sugar per 100gms??

Yes Sanitarium make "Natural" peanut butter from 100% peanuts no added sugar or salt.  The nutritional information list shows 6% sugar which must be from the actual peanuts, as the ingredients list shows only peanuts and nothing else.

If by some chance you live in Adelaide you can go to the Central Market, to Goodies and Grains health food shop and use their grinder yourself to buy freshly-ground peanut butter - it's delicious!

You could try making your own peanut butter with just a cheap bag of roasted peanuts from the supermarket or by the kilo from a nut shop and use a food processor with a dash of olive oil. If you have the time, its works out to be much much cheaper :)

There are other nut spreads other than peanut, less fat too. Peanuts are high in fat. You can get natural Almond, brazil and cashew. Takes a bit of getting used to. But now I prefer the taste to peanut butter. Look out for it in the supermarket. Don't have any on hand so can't remember the brand. Will post it later when I purchase more.

Also check the Markets for the Peanut Van. I know they go to Brisbane City mall on Wednesday's farmers markets.
