    Are either of these products ok? I have been using malt extract sparingly and I am still losing weight but would like to know if it is alright.

    What are the ingredients in the malt? Palm sugar is just sugar with a fancy name... it's still sugar.

    Hi Susan, Sanders Malt extract has fructose in it.
    Rice malt syrup from Coles is fructose free and is very nice.

    David covers the varieties of malt in his books.  Maltose is OK - SPQP page 189.
    I had a lot of trouble finding out what palm sugar consisted of. The best I could do is that it is basically sucrose. If this is true it should be avoided because of the fructose content.
