I grow my own fruit, and am partial to a yoghurt/fruit/muesli breakfast.  I can't find a muesli that doesn't have at least one sugar in it.  Do I need to make my own ?

Hi Chrisitan,  Not sure if you can actually get a muesli with no sugar.  It's quite easy to make your own.  Get some rolled oats, nuts or seeds of your choice (I find raw almonds and raw cashews work well, with pepitas and sunflower seeds) and even a sprinkle of coconut.  You can directly toast this yourself in an oven or on the stove.  If you want more flavour you can melt some butter and glucose or rice malt syrup in a pan.  Mix in with your oats, nuts, seeds and coconut.  Spread onto an oven try and bake til light and golden.  Keeps very well in an air tight container in the pantry.  Very nice with yoghurt and berries!

    Hi,
There is a muesli that Jim Stynes put together while he was sick. It's called 'Jimbo' Super Muesli and it's made by Non-Fiction foods. It has no sugar and is wheat free. You can buy it online at nonfictionfoods.com.au or from many IGA stores. It is quite expensive I think-about $11 for 500grams.
    regards,
    Karen

Woolworths seels one called SF Meusli. It's a bit bland,,,,, but OK if you add some nuts and a banana. Very low in sugar and fat.

You'll need to add some good full fat milk and also some cream to get a satisfied feeling from eating this Muesli. I wouldn't add a banana, though, too much fructose, maybe some berries would be the go.
    cheers

I grow raspberries, strawberries, loganberries, blueberries and boysenberries, that's kind of the main thing for me, I need to get or make a musli so I can eat them for breakfast, I have them coming out of my ears.  I'm still coming to terms with not using the cupboard full of jams and sauces we made this season.....

Low-sugar yoghurt adds a bit of interest to muesli too.  Or any cereal for that matter.

All those berries sound great, I'd do what Janelle suggests and make your own muesli and add a whole milk dash of natural yoghurt as well! Jalna do a very nice one. Sad about the jams though.
    cheers

    Hi there,

I make the one in Davids book. I think it goes like this-- 3 cups rolled oats , half cup coconut, a couple of cups of nuts, different sorts , crush nuts in food processor. I also add some psyllum and a couple of crushed weetbix. I have it cold with milk, plain yoghurt and chopped up kiwi fruit. You can have it cooked in microwave if you want it hot.

    Cheers
