HI I have just finished the Big fat lies, book and am a little confused over what oils are seed oils and what oils are not. I thought I understood from the book that olive oil was one of the good guys, but at my local shop tonite I read the labels on olive oil, (the expensive small speciality shop type) and on the label, it listed poly unsaturated fat at a level of 7.9 or so. I thought this was meant to be only saturated or monounsaturated fat. so am confused, is olive oil, a good guy or bad guy and what other brands of oil are okay? as I want to get it right, can someone please point me in the right direction. maybe I just didnt absorb the book properly (did read it rather fast) thanks in advance for help. regards Maree
Hi Maree
if you look on page 230 on the Big Fat Lies book, there is a chart showing all the oils, from good on the left and bad ( seed oils) on the right, I don't know why but olive oil hasn't been put on this list. But it is an ok oil, just don't heat it. You can ask David directly on his Sweet Poison Facebook page, he usually checks it daily and you will get a quick answer.
I suspect they put the bit about polyunsaturated on it to make it sell better!!!! I use macadamia nut oil too, it's very high up on the chart and I suspect olive oil would be up there with it too. Funnily enough, my bottle of Macadamia oil claims it's full of polyunsaturates too on the label.
cheers
