My mother in law had Sweet Poison on her iPad at Easter so I started having a browse, it got me straight away and I pretty much read the whole book in two days. I have since bought my own copy of the Quit Plan and am on day two of cold turkey.  I am finding that I seem to have an insatiable appetite!!!! Is this normal and what should I do? I have been snacking on nuts etc and trying to let go of any previous diet misconceptions I have (ie that you should always limit food intake so that you feel hungry).  I have about 10kgs to lose but I am looking at my healthy sugar free lifestyle as the main outcome rather than focussing on weight loss primarily (which is what I have done in the past). Having said that, I do want to lose weight and my humongous appetite at the moment makes me worry. Any advice?

Hi ..Good on you ...The best thing is to go carb free for a week and you can eat as much protein as you like ...eg cheese eggs meat.. green veges (anything without carbs...  no more than app 20 ..25 per day) (this is based on the Aitkin Diet which David recomends to perhaps start with)  and then slowly reintroduce your carbs ..I am into my 4th week and have lost app  3 ks...  feel a lot better inside myself...I don't crave like I was in the first week..Good luck on your  journey .. :)

And make sure you eat plenty of fats, fat makes you feel full up pretty quickly. Full fat cheeses, a scoop of full fat yoghurt, unsweetened if you can bear the tartness. I also have a tub of full cream in the fridge and if I am craving food, some spoonfuls of this will do the trick. I also have a mug of unsweetened cocoa with full cream milk mid afternoon, the cocoa, especially if it is organic has serotonin in it to give you a lift and also cuts the hunger completely.

good luck, keep it up, it's worth it.
    cheers

Thanks ladies, today was a lot better, not quite as voracious with my eating and am starting to lose the cravings. I will stick with it because it just makes so much sense!!!

    Today, a minor breakthrough.....
Normally when I sneak away from the housework and kids to check emails and the like I always grab a snack (prior to SP this would have been fruit and a low fat yoghurt) - today I sat down for half hour, checked my emails and then went on about my day.  It wasn't until about an hour later that I realized I had totally skipped my snack! Yay! Appetite control kicking in!
