    Hi Everyone

Is it difficult to manage this sugar free if you are vegetarian.

I'm asking because I want to cut out more meat.

Also I suffer from heartburn / reflux which i've had for years. I am taking omaprezole and I want to stop it but every diet I've ever tried hasn't helped.Do you think cutting out the sugar will help in that regard?

    Thanks gwendoline

On p110 of SPQP David says that there is no such thing as a bad vegetable!
Your doctor can prescribe a very effective pill for reflux. There may be alternative medicines which help.

    Thanks John

I am already taking medication. I'm hoping that de poisoning myself will help to regulate the acid reflux and I wondered if anyone else had experienced an improvement in that department.

I am very aligned with what David has to say about sugar/fructose. I think it has been my biggest health issue over the years. I can attribute many things to the consumption of it.

Thank you for your reply it is much appreciated

    Kind regards Gwendoline

    Dear Gwendoline,

I also suffered heartburn and was put on Nexium tablets which I took for a couple of years.  I cut out sugar early last year and decided to try without them.  It took a couple of months (some of which it was uncomfortable but not painful) but I have not had to take any for more than 6 months.  I think it would be worth a try so give it a go as it definately worked for me.  Good luck

    Hi there

That is so great that you don't have to take the Nexium. I don't want to be taking any medication. Iv'e been taking two omaprezole for years now and I'm hoping that in time I wont need them like you.

I tried to talk to my doctor today. She just couldn't understand about the sugar. She just looked at me like "What are you talking about that is ridiculous". I gave up.

I know from just the short time Iv'e been doing this that it has made a huge difference to my health and well being. I have so much more energy and I look heaps better.

    Kind regards gwendoline

Next time you are talking to your doctor tell her to do herself a favour and watch this YouTube lecture by Professor Robert Lustig of the University of California. He explains the metabolism of sugars, and fructose in particular, in an hour-long lecture to his senior medical students.

If possible, copy-&-paste this post and email it to her. Otherwise print it out.

Any reasonable scientific person would have to admit that there is something in the argument after viewing this video.

The "establishment" dwellers get very nervous when their cage is rattled. This stuff is diametrically opposed to everything they have been taught. But Lustig is not alone - there is an ever increasing body of evidence to support him being right.
