Dextrose/Glucose

    Dextrose is just another word for Glucose isn't it? Because I can buy Glucose at my local supermarket and a lot of people have commented that they can't find it.

    Glucose is a syrup, dextrose is a power, like sugar ( and therefore a substitute for cooking ).

    Yes - it's usually found in the Home brew section of the supermarket. But make sure it is just glucose because the home brew fellows make a version with other stuff in it.

    They are both glucose - one is a powder and one a syrup. The latter has been suggested as a substitute for honey. I have a jar but haven't tested that theory yet as I'm still working through the rice syrup.

    Ok thanks. I can get glucose in powder form from the sugar section in one of my supermarkets. and can't find in the home brew section.

    I believe the book said that some forms actually contact fructose, so check the label !!
