Can anyone tell me if cider vinegar is in the same category as balsamic vinegar? It doesn't have any ingredient/nutrient information at all on the label. My hubby loves the stuff

Julie - Balsamic vinegar contains 15% sugar and is not actually vinegar at all ( Sweet Poison Quit Plan p125). It is a reduction of the syrup of sweet wine grapes. David recommends avoiding it.
Apple-cider vinegar appears to have about 0.5% sugar

so should be OK. The Wikipedia article suggests it has weight reduction properties.
