    Hi Everyone,

Just a quick point of clarification.  I think David recommends buying full fat dairy.  I gather this is not about the fructose factor but more about the fat i.e. we need it to be healthy...Is this correct? Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere - am new to the site.

    Thanks,

It's mostly about the fact that if you buy low fat dairy, it will have stuff added so you can eat it ( sugar in the case of yoghurt, powdered milk in the case of milk ).  Your body knows how to deal with fat.  You will just get full quicker.

David spends quite a lot of space on the saturated fat myth. But the point here is that when your appetite-control system is working properly, the hormones in your stomach will tell your brain when you have had all the food (including fat) it needs for now. You will not want to eat any more. So even if it were true that saturated fat is bad for you, you would not take in more than you needed.  I have been eating butter and full cream milk for 9 months and my cholesterol readings are normal.

The point about the low-fat products is that when they remove the fat they also remove the flavour. Then they put that back with sugar and salt.  Yoghurt is OK to 5% because that is milk-sugar (lactose) which gets metabolised to glucose.
