It should be.  Check the can to see.  Canned food in general is not great, but beetroot are easy to grow and even easier to prepare so they are in vinegar, the same as the stuff you buy in cans.  They last forever in the fridge, too.

Sweet Poison Quit Plan  Page 110 shows beetroot to contain 3.5% fructose, which is the same as kiwifruit, which is mid-range of the fruits. So, as David says, there is no such thing as bad vegetables. But it is the highest of the veggies in the graph.

    Hi John

Are you talking fresh beetroot or in the can.  Every can I've looked at says sugar is added - would they be talking aobut he natural sugar in beetroot or have they put it in?

fresh beetroot is good, canned not so good like most canned vegetables they contain added sugar to help preserve it. Taking a look at the fructose content of fresh and canned (drained) beetroot, per 100g:

    4.45 - canned

    4.15 - fresh, boiled

If you drained and rinse the canned beetroot it should be fine.

I have checked both Edgel and Golden Circle Beetroot but neither are allowable.
On the weekend I tried roasting some beetroot (roast in skins with stem and root still attached) just a spray of oil on the pan. Roasted for just over and hour.
Peel off skin etc and it is delicious - could easily be sliced for sandwiches.

Yes, roasted beetroot is delicious.  You can easily find recipes online to prepare your own like the canned stuff, and it lasts forever in the fridge ( I literally end up throwing it out although it still seems fine a year later ), and you can then use dextrose instead of sugar.
