    Hi
Since I have been sugar free, I have had a huge thirst for water. Is anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know why?

I was briefly very thirsty and I assume it was really a sugar craving, as I used to drink a lot of soft drink.  Now I have a glass of water with a meal, or a coffee in the morning, and I rarely want more to drink than that.

My wife also claimed my kidneys were working hard because they were trying to detox and bring my body down to the level of sugar that I was eating, which means purging what was there as it processed the fat in my body ( I lost 10 kg in a month ), so I needed more water as a result.  So, my advice is, get a water filter and drink as much water as your body is telling you that you need.

I had the same thing for the first few days and so did many other people.  I think it must be part of the detox, so definitely keep up the water.

I must be really toxic then as it has been 3 1/2 months since I gave up sugar.

    Hi Julie Dorey

I had the same thing. I couldn't believe how thirsty I was. It didn't matter how much water I drank I had to drink more.

Someone told me that they had heard that the reason people eat a lot of sugar is because they are dehydrated. So that would make sense. It must mask the dehydration somehow. (this is not fact, I am just guessing)

I am about 2 and a half months along now and the thirst has eased off. Though it comes and goes.
