Hi, I'm sure this has already been asked ... (but doesn't seem to be a search facility for questions on this site?) ... but is Rice Bran Oil ok to use? If so, is it better or worse for you than Olive Oil?

    Thanks,

    Danielle

As far as I can tell from searching the internet this is used mainly as a cooking oil I can't find any information about sugar content but it contains 37% polyunsaturated fat which makes it a no-no in David's book Big Fat Lies.  Olive oil is OK.

I wonder if you are confusing Rice Bran Oil with Rice Malt Syrup?  This is OK as the sugars in it are acceptable. There have been a lot of posts about it. You can buy it from Coles for $3.60 a jar of about 500g.

Other honey substitutes are glucose syrup - colourless and flavourless, but OK in addition to peanut butter or cheese. And malt syrup. I haven't tried it but it would obviously have a malty flavour. The sugar is maltose and it is OK.

If you want to search this site, do it from Google. You get a lot of references to these and other forums.  Just watch out for the URL being "au".  There is a similar book etc in the U.S.A. at www.sweetpoison.com [no .au] which is about artificial sweeteners.
