Hunger is not the only reason we eat.  Everyone is different, so don't take any stories as a rule your body needs to follow.  Even when your hunger is under control, you will find if you've eaten for emotional reasons, you need to deflect that and feed it with other things, because it's not about your body needing food, so your appetite control working, won't fix it.  I have a dextrose dessert once a week.  Are you having no sugar at all ? Perhaps you need to make yourself something with dextrose once a week, so when you crave sweets, you can remind yourself that you're x days away from having a treat ?

Well no - I have had a scoop of ice cream I made twice but I was more waiting to feel no hunger at all or lack of interest in food as some people reported and that things were sickly sweet when you did eat them.  Maybe im wanting too much?

Honestly, I very quickly got to a point where sugary drinks are just sickly, but I still find that the desserts I make with dextrose, I make as sweet as I ever had them, and on the odd moment that I do have a sugary dessert, I don't feel like it's too sweet, or that I don't like it.  I guess everyone is different.  I certainly feel full all the time, you still don't feel that ? I mean, between meals, I don't feel like eating, and I know I've had enough, and when I eat, I can tell when I've had enough, and stop.

well sometimes I seem to be not all that interested in food but other times I can't stop eating, but I don't know if its boredom and im looking for something to do or true hunger.  I guess im feeling a bit down knowing I can't have anything sweet and truly enjoyable again.  I can't really explain what im looking for because I guess I don't really know.  I want the weight to fall off, not really care about food and not be constantly thinking and dying to have something sweet or something like? lol

Hello Rebecca and welcome, and congratulations for stepping out and joining the fructose free way.

Actually, the appetite control takes time to click in and it happens at different times and in many different ways for individuals.

It took a couple of months for me. Now, I can still overeat by riding all over it, even when I know I am full!

What I do to invoke the appetite control when I have a meal, is to fill my plate with an amount I think is right for me. Then I eat it and wait 20 minutes and if I am still hungry, I have some more.

I have, a few times, found food suddenly yucky when I've been halfway through it and stopped eating it. And I usually wait until I feel really hungry before I eat anything and don't crave anything between meals anymore.

This is my story, alone, it is different for Everybody. Don't despair, it will happen for you. I am a mostly savoury eater, only eating a dextrose sweetened desert on very special occasions. But again, this is all up to you. David does suggest we wait to eat dextrose deserts until we have got over the sugar cravings and withdrawal period.

    Good luck to you
    cheers
    Freda

I've seen people say that, I thought what he said was, if you're going to ease off sugar instead of going cold turkey, you should wait to start eating dextrose ?

yeah thats how I took it too Christian but wasn't sure.  Im more concerned with losing weight and seeing results than anything else truth be told.  Its winter and I've been at the same weight for a month or so after losing a heap so I was hoping I would start losing even though its winter?  I hope something happens soon because its disenheartening - especially when I was losing so much doing it the other way and sugar was involved lol.

If losing weight is a serious motivation, then I think you need to start to look at manually controlling your portions, especially if you may be eating for reasons other than hunger.  Others have spoken about eating a small meal and waiting 20 minutes to see if they want more, for example ?

It can be very disheartening.  My appetite did take quite some time to kick in, I have days where I eat lots and other days where I'm not really that fussed.  Also that time of month tends to screw things up for me too lol it's the time where I do get sweet cravings and I also tend to eat more. Try serving yourself less and portion control.
