Has anyone had a go at making yogurt.

I was recently given a yogurt maker for my birthday. Have made up the Easiyo brand & the Hansells brand Greek style/ unsweetened yogurt.

Was told they were fructose free.

    Are they?

    Hi Frances
there should be an ingredients list on the Yoghurt packets, if there is no added sugar, or honey or fruit juice, then, yes they are fructose free. And you did say they are unsweetened.

I've got the easyo yoghurt maker at home and have made plenty of yoghurt.  I prefer the greek one more and I can guarantee you it is completely sugar free.  The only sugar that will be in it is the added sugar (which the instructions say to add a few tablespoons of sugar when making it up) instead you could add dextrose or just leave it out completely.

The Easiyo Greek yogurt is devine, it's best unsweetened really but if that's too much of a leap for you just add a little bit of dextrose, or rice malt syrup would be good too as it's a bit like honey.

This really clarifies things for me........

I've only been sugar free for 2-3weeks and last week for my dads birthday (he's been sugar free for at least 3 months) I made David's Coconut cake recipe........ it was AMAZING and I went way overboard with it, it almost threw me completely off track with this experiment..........

No more dextrose for me until I've kicked the habit........ how long does this usually take?

Hello Tina, and a huge welcome to the forum.
Well done for going 2-3 weeks sugar free.

I've been off sugar for nine months and still find that if I have stuff with dextrose in it, it throws me off track. I am practically all savory now, can't trust myself with sweetened anything!!!

    sigh.

    cheers
